A Bold Acoustic Guitar with a Master's Touch
To celebrate the growing popularity of our Modern Black acoustic guitar, we created a video showing the detail and meticulous process of crafting this coveted guitar in our Dalian factory in China.
The heart of the guitar begins with the selection of our Master Grade solid European spruce for the top, where we outline and cut the basic body shape of the guitar. To ensure that this guitar performs at its best, we install our hand-scalloped X-bracing, which is crucial for the guitar’s structural integrity and tonal qualities. At the same time, we select the matching face of the headstock that will feature our inlayed logo. Elsewhere on the production floor, the fretboard is assembled by hand with beautiful wood inlay and frets.
For the Modern Black, we use solid mahogany back and sides to complement the spruce top. This wood combination is a timeless recipe for warm lows, complex mids, and detailed highs. Instead of a traditional sound hole on the guitar top, this guitar features two sound ports located on the side, facing the player. While this greatly improves the player's experience, it also significantly increases the amount of skilled craftsmanship required. The sides are then attached to the top, followed by body binding and purfling work to enhance the aesthetics. The guitar is then painted in a Trans black (TBK) finish and undergoes final polishing and finishing touches.
Revisiting the fretboard, the frets are hand finished before the head and neck are joined together. Gotoh®’s SGL510Z Gold tuners are installed onto the headstock, while the bridge and saddle are installed onto the body. Strings are then installed, and a final setup is performed before the guitar is placed in our deluxe hard case, ready to be shipped to you.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout the production process are evident in the closing scene, where a player showcases the finished product. Modern Black is a guitar that represents some of our greatest work, and we hope that this guitar will inspire you to create your very own greatest works.
