Jonas Jonken Axelsson is the guitarist of Dead Man’s Path. Dead Man’s Path is a Swedish death metal band hailing from the deep forests of Dalecarlia. Formed in late 2019 by guitarist Jonas Axelsson and vocalist Pontus Dahlin, the band is a force to be reckoned with in the underground metal scene. The name Dead Man’s Path is a nod to the left-hand path of black magic, symbolizing the worship of all the dark entities of the world.
Dead Man's Path draws inspiration from bands like Aeon, Grima, Blackbraid, and Cannibal Corpse. Their music is heavily influenced by early Swedish death metal giants such as At the Gates and Entombed, while also incorporating elements from newer bands like Behemoth and Baest. The band’s songs delve into the dark and mystical, telling tales of creatures from Swedish folklore, such as Näcken, myrlingar, and skogsrået.
A Dead Man's Path live show is an intense and visceral experience. The band is renowned for their brutal, merciless performances, where blood, fire, and death are ever-present. Pontus Dahlin's theatrical presence, including smashing his head with the microphone, adds to the raw energy of their shows. Their live act is designed to overwhelm and captivate audiences, making them a must-see live band.
Dead Man's Path is committed to the DIY ethos, a cornerstone of death metal culture. The band creates all their merch, artwork, and stage props themselves, with Pontus handling the artwork for their releases and crafting his own stage mask. This dedication to DIY not only honors the roots of death metal but also ensures their creative vision remains uncompromised.
