Kim Kwang Seok is a legendary session guitarist who has participated in over 100,000 recordings throughout a career spanning more than 40 years, representing the pinnacle of the Korean music industry.
He began his career in 1976 as part of the group sound band HE-5. Since 1978, Kim Kwang Seok has worked as a session guitarist for Korea's most renowned musicians, including Cho Yong-pil, Kim Hyun-sik, Jeon In-kwon, Lee Moon-sae, and Shin Seung Hun. His extensive discography includes over 100,000 recordings.
In 1995, Kim released his first solo album, The Confession, followed by instrumental albums such as The Secret, Galaxy, and Playing Above the Clouds, in which he introduced a unique musical style merging the traditional Korean string instrument, the biwa, with the guitar.
In recognition of his contributions, Kim Kwang Seok was honored with the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award at the 1st Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards in 2010.
With a steadfast dedication to remaining solely a guitarist, rather than branching into composing or producing, Kim Kwang Seok embodies the essence of a true musician and stands as one of Korea's most respected guitarists.
