The secret behind the Essence Series' impressive tone lies in its premium features. Both the Essence-GA4 and Essence-OC4 models are topped with a torrefied solid Sitka spruce top, treated with Cort's proprietary Aged to Vintage(ATV) process. This innovative process ages the wood to produce the rich, open tone of vintage acoustics. To further enhance this classic sound, the tops' bracing is also made of torrefied spruce.

The mahogany neck, back, and sides contribute to a “warm, robust midrange and bright highs”, while the rosewood fingerboard and bridge add to a “more balanced sound and sustain”.
